Tell us about yourself and your role with Rosie?
My name is Graeme Renaud and I am the Technical Support Specialist for the Rosie division of Vitalcare.
When did you join the Rosie team?
I joined Rosie just over a year ago (2020). I was a Rosie assistant for a little while before moving into the Technical support role.
What do you enjoy about the role?
It’s very me! What I mean by that is it’s kind of split down the middle between technical and people, and that’s my happy space. I love getting my hands on the hardware, but I also love talking to the clients and dealing with the rest of the team.
Tell us about your background
I have degrees in Computer Science and Psychology. So that pretty much defines my space, it’s half tech and half people. I was a Sound Engineer for a lot of my (early) life (in television) and that took me all around the world — starting out in Africa and then to the UK, and then I was in Hong Kong for 12 years. I have worked for a lot of broadcasters, the BBC, Foxtel, Rupert Murdoch for many years. (I have) worked in every area of the business from designing and manufacturing equipment, working for manufacturers, to selling equipment, to training people, to technical support in many different guises, so I have done lots of different kinds of jobs but almost all of them have been half technical, half people.
What do you love about the Rosie Team?
It’s much more family feeling than I might have anticipated. That’s the thing that has impressed me the most. Everyone is so friendly and everyone gets on fine, and everyone is working together. There’s a real feeling of harmony and teamwork. So I am very happy to be a part of that.
What are your hobbies?
I collect vintage synthesizers, musical instruments. Synthesizers are my passion and I particularly like the old ones — they’re very collectible, a lot of them are very valuable now. They’re my babies, I have a whole room full of them, and I am always on the lookout for something special and rare and interesting!
I’m able to make a real difference in the quality of people’s lives and help them to feel safe and secure and that’s the purpose of what we do (at Rosie).
What do you enjoy about working with the Rosie service?
I have always had a strong interest in the caring industries and in the medical field, so I went off and worked in aged care for a while, which was really good, it gave me a good grounding in the aged care industry in general. I love working with clients, although they may have the same devices and their issues are similar, every single client is different. Their situation is different, their needs are different, the way that they interact with the technology is slightly different. So you never know what you’re going to get, it really keeps you on your toes, it’s really fresh every single day, which makes the role really interesting and rewarding. And I think one of the biggest things is that I get the feeling that I’ve actually made a difference in a very direct way.
