Coronavirus brings extra challenges for seniors and people living with a disability. But for many older Australians and people living with a chronic condition or disability, social isolation is still their main way of staying healthy and safe.
Many are still self-isolating at home alone and have decided to defer their home care services to avoid the risk of contracting the virus. This could put their personal safety and wellbeing at risk.
At Vitalcare, we understand seniors and people living with a disability are worried about their health. To help support our Rosie clients during COVID-19, Vitalcare is making weekly phone call check-ups to ensure they’re safe and well and to see how they are managing.
Chief Executive Officer of Vitalcare, Logan Ross, says, “For seniors, their welfare and safety is our priority. Together with the Rosie personal alarm and 24/7 emergency response service, a weekly welfare check can provide our Rosie clients with the support and confidence to live safely and independently at home.”
“Vitalcare cares about our customers. So we’re checking up on them each week, making sure they’re okay and if they need any additional assistance. We know that when we work together, it makes it easier to get through the tough times. We are here to help at any time of the day or night,” added Ross.
Over the past 5 months, the Rosie service has helped people keep safe, feel connected and manage with COVID-19 self-isolation at home, each week.
We all know how appreciated a friendly voice, and a listening ear is when times are tough. The Rosie weekly welfare checks have had an overwhelmingly positive response from our Rosie clients. Here’s what our happy clients are saying:
Our client Eva “positively” relies on this service and says,
“I’m feeling lonely. I haven’t seen my family in months and I have deferred my physio appointments. I look forward to the call each week because I can’t visit the grandkids at the moment.”
The weekly check-ins and 24/7 support have helped James immensely. He says, “Living by myself knowing that I have the security of Rosie and that help is accessible and available when I need it. A weekly welfare check keeps me connected.”
Our client Jennifer relies on the weekly welfare and says, “I enjoy having a chat and receiving a call from the Rosie team each week to make sure I’m ok at home. It’s reassuring you can take Rosie anywhere.”
Many people have been self-isolating at home, and Dianne says, “I am sick of being at home all the time due to COVID19. I have only been to the grocery store once. I really appreciated your call today, it’s very reassuring when someone is checking up on you regularly. It’s a wonderful service, thank you very, very much!”
For vulnerable people feeling isolated and lonely and need support, Rosie by Vitalcare offers a safety net that gives seniors the confidence to live independently and brings families and carers peace of mind.
